Probably the greatest elvish hero of ancient days

Considered by many to be the greatest elven hero of all, Galoriand was a Noldo from Lantalaure. He was reputed (before the arrival of Varkar) to have slain the very last dragon in the world, something he denied. A master of swordplay, he carried the cursed blade Tormentor, reasoning that it was less likely to wreak havoc in his hands than any other’s.
With Elverandil and three others, he fought and banished the First Vampire, Cain.
Galoriand refused to fight at Thallan in 672, and it was a long time before the elvenking forgave him.
Galoriand fell at the siege of Londannath, fighting Varkar Barduric himself. Despite bearing Asharn, the mightiest of the Six Swords of the Noldor, he was unable to injure the Dragon and finally fell under his claws. Varkar captured both Asharn and Tormentor, though it was noted by one survivor that neither he nor his lizard generals would touch Asharn under any circumstances, but brought up humans to remove it from the field.
