Entrusted with the sword Asharn, Galoriand's sword, by king Doronond in 1606. Since then, Volven's responsibility has been the safe transit of elven returnees from Viridor and materiel from the port at Belegond to Belamir.
With the transition of Belegond from an elven city to a cosmopolitan freeport, Volven's mission there also evolved, and became the elvish ambassador to the free city. He remained deeply concerned with elf interests in the city.
He was killed fighting for the loyalists in the Elvish Civil War, in 1924. The current whereabouts of Asharn are unknown.
