A respectable Erlyid merchant, Volstat was trained in the Sorcerer's Guild in his youth and became an adept in later life. He died of what appeared to be natural causes in 1598 and was buried, but he had been turned and rose as a vampire. He lurked in Thornal until the High Clans were ready to make their attempt at rescuing Cain, and was assigned to the attack on Prince Crixus at the Jealous Wench. He never knew it was a decoy to deflect the Hunters of Cain from the real move to open the Vintares Gate. He was slain by Surya in the resulting battle.
