Guns for Hire - Script Sixty
Inandeng Quarry, San Vicente, Palawan 10.57pm 28/10/17
Arriving back at quarry T-Bird & Skinpin found the others packed & ready to roll should he report that their situation was compromised; watching his words & being very careful not to mention his alluding to the assistance they could provide the masses in removing the problem of Kuratong Balelang & his thugs.
Almost reluctantly, Alex, accepted T-Bird's story ably assisted by Vrasten's own agreement that their mission & location were in no immediate danger, grumbling & frustrated Boyd, König & Bancroft started to unload the Humvee & reestablish the camp whilst Alex kept a pensive watch on the road.
Inandeng Quarry, San Vicente, Palawan 10.09am 01/11/17
It was now close on a month since they'd secreted themselves in the quarry & apart from the incident with the kid & his dog four days previous nothing month had occurred to kill the tension they were all feeling. Morosely T-Bird flicked the screen between the various CCTV camera angles both hidden around the quarry & overlooking the Puerta Princessa Road North & the junction leading to Balelang's coastal retreat, hopefully several battered vehicles heading both from & towards the Puerta Princessa had failed miserably to arouse any interest & he was almost oblivious to the two northbound vehicles, a red four door saloon & a battered rusting station wagon that slowed & turned onto the track leading to the coast, for several seconds he stared at the screen grinning before alerting the others as to what he'd seen.

Quarry, San Vicente, Palawan 10.17am 01/11/17
Having watched the recorded images a dozen or so times Alex, Vrasten & T-Bird agreed that they recognised one of the seven faces Vrasten had captured from the brief recording; three were unknown females of varying ages, possibly domestics coming in to open up the coastal house in preparation of the dictators arrival, whilst three of the four males were also unknown the fourth male they recognised as a member of Balelang's pembunuh anak laki-laki , first seen during their entry to Palawan in August at Immigration Control.
For the rest of the day the sudden promise of impending action lifted the mood of all but by the time sunset came around the lack of further arrivals or activity was a disappointment to all.
Inandeng Quarry, San Vicente, Palawan 11.31am 02/11/17
Wiping the sweat from his neck Bancroft watched the screen as two vehicles pulled to a halt at the head of the track, the leading vehicle, a canvas covered truck, pulled of the road & reversed under the shade of threes adjacent to the junction whilst the second vehicle continued towards the house.
From the truck three figures dismounted laughing, joking & stretching before lifting the trucks hood to allow the overheating engine to cool, one of the goons pulled a couple of rifles from within the truck & leant them out of site under the trees.

Anticipating,
hoping, for the main mans arrival Alex, T-Bird & Vrasten along with the hired
hands crowded around the laptops screen waiting for it to happen, just after
1.00pm the dictators armoured limousine escorted back & front by two unmarked
Russian GAZ Volga containing pembunuh anak laki-laki arrived, at least
it was assumed he'd arrived, with blacked
out windows it was impossible to know who was in the sleek Mercedes.
Two hours later a solitary four door estate car pulled up at the junction for inspection, whilst two of the guards checked out who it carried the third radioed ahead advising that the entertainment had arrived.
All told & discounting who & how many were in the limousine or who had already been in residence at the president's hideaway, at least one was known about from Alex & T-Bird's earlier excursion, Vrasten reckoned there were at least nineteen visitors including the domestics, cooks & whores.
Inandeng Quarry, San Vicente, Palawan 3.11pm 02/11/17
With Balelang's assumed earlier arrival the unit made ready to move out however it was quickly realised they'd somewhat fucked up, there was only route south from the quarry which meant driving past the guards at the junction, doing so in the Humvee no matter what the did to disguise it wasn't an option & T-Bird assured all that having foot slogged it through the bush to mount the cameras there was no way they'd get it across country.
Realising their error it was clear that they should have done as originally intended & secured local transport, it was hastily agreed that T-Bird & Vrasten should walk down to Inandeng to see if they could negotiate hiring or buying one or two of the villager's vehicles.
Dressed as casually as they could & with only concealed side arms & a fistful of dollars they set out leaving Alex playing with C-6 RDX.
Inandeng, San Vicente, Palawan 5.24pm 02/11/17
Arriving at the village as the sun descended below the horizon T-Bird lead Vrasten to the home of the kid's father, Suparma Perkasa.
Nervously Suparma Perkasa welcomed T-Bird, possibly suspecting that T-Bird had had second thoughts about the money he'd previously given to the villages residents. Somewhat relieved that this wasn't the case he listened to Vrasten's chip enhanced suggestion that the villagers could further benefit by hiring or selling a couple of its trucks to them for a few days. As Vrasten counted out a healthy looking roll of dollar bills T-Bird elaborated on the request expressing his interest in traveling around Palawan so he & his friends could see the delights Palawan had to offer, clearly Supama didn't believe his explanation for a single minute however the offer of $5,000 was a very persuasive argument that they had nothing illegal in mind.
Some
twenty minutes later two hastily cleared out trucks pulled up outside of the
family home, both had clearly seen better days & were somewhat fragrant in nature,
the better of the two, a flat backed four door affair at least still had one
headlight whereas the bright yellow two door pick up had neither but had a nice
collection of palm leaves.
Promising to return the trucks in the same condition they'd hired them in three or so day's time Vrasten tail gated by the lightless T-Bird headed for the quarry.
Inandeng Quarry, San Vicente, Palawan 8.18pm 02/11/17
Eventually back at the quarry the two trucks were loaded up & made ready for a am departure as they figured that driving past the junction at night would attract to much attention plus missing three out of four headlights despite it being close to the full moon wasn't anybody's idea of fun.
In view of the need to leave the Humvee at the quarry Alex, T-Bird & Vrasten decided that König would stay with it as back up just in case everything went tits up & they needed rescuing, König was frustrated by this but what the hell; as long as he got paid he could live with it.
With the game afoot Alex put a call into Culio to suggesting they keep the Spartan's engines warm.
Puerta Princessa Road North, Tulariquin, Palawan 8.47am 03/11/17
Alex, T-Bird & Bancroft drove south along the Puerta Princessa road towards the junction with the track leading to the east coast retreat, T-Bird had darkened his skin by means of his chemskin & Alex had dressed down in an attempt to look as local as possible, Bancroft simply kept his head down on the rear seat. Passing the guards checkpoint on their left they did their best to look as inconspicuous as they could despite hoping that the tarpaulin on the back of the flat back kept the multitude of weaponry firmly under wraps.
Forty minutes or so later Vrasten drove himself & Skinpin in the yellow pick-up passed the self same guards hoping that the exoskeleton covered Boyd remained under cover in the back of vehicle, fortunately for the three loitering pembunuh anak laki-laki he did.
Puerta Princessa Road North, Tagburos, Palawan 10.22am 03/11/17
Some six miles south of the presidents hideaway they pulled onto the largely derelict forecourt of what had once been a two bit fuel stop, repair garage & bar for the abandoned village of Tagburos, other than a couple of corroded old fuel pumps & the derelict shell of the long abandoned buildings there wasn't a lot going for it other than it offered some concealment for the trucks.
By late afternoon any casual passing observer, of which to be fare there wouldn't be many, wouldn't have spotted the pick-ups hidden behind the overgrown truck stop & the fan of cut scrub, bushes & branches.
Puerta Princessa Road North, Tagburos, Palawan 6.28pm 03/11/17
Under
the pale light from the near full moon the crew of six set about placing a series
of 1Kg C6 charges Alex had pre-prepared along the centre of the five metre wide
compacted dirt & stone road that they'd selected as the point of ambush. Alex
figured on the president's convoy running at maybe 40mph with a couple of car
lengths between them, central to the row of eight charges was a larger 5Kg charge.
Alex consulted with Bancroft who agreed that with all the charges linked to a single manual remote if Alex blew all the charges in one taking out the principle target, Balelang's limo, over the main charge & at least disabling the preceding & following vehicles at the same time, with the charges set & the detonators fixed the shallow holes were backfilled & Alex joined the others in preparing fox holes to either side of the road apart from Skinpin who was holed up in one of the hidden pick ups monitoring the CCTV cameras.
Puerta Princessa Road North, Tagburos, Palawan 5.49am 04/11/17
Early the following morning & before any local traffic was about Alex, Vrasten & T-Bird inspected the nights work, a bit more work was required to ensure lines of sight & Bancroft was dispatched to hole up some 500m or so north of there position to give a final check as the target vehicles approached as well as close the back door if required.
Looking at where the charges had been dug in Vrasten shook his head pointing out that what might of looked good in the moonlight now stood out like a sore finger.
T-Bird sighed & volunteered to pull one of the trucks out & spend half an hour or so running it back & forwards over the charge positions to give it the worn in feel, whilst Alex was confident that the charges were dormant & the remote was in safety mode she couldn't help cringing as T-Bird ran over them for the fist time.
With everything at the ready Skinpin put a call through to Diaz & the C-27 aircrew as well as König advising that the reception committee were in position awaiting the arrival of the main guest.
Puerta Princessa Road North, Tagburos, Palawan 3.39pm 04/11/17
By mid afternoon not a lot had happened, a grand total of three vehicles had passed along the main highway & Skinpin reported that of the two heading north neither had turned off the Puerta Princessa road towards the president's retreat & nor had they attracted the attention of the bored guards.
Hungry & slightly bored Bancroft was recalled to the main party to share a meager meal of biscuits, cheese & water.
Puerta Princessa Road North, Tagburos, Palawan 11.17am 08/11/17
Four mind numbing days later Skinpin reported that finally something was happening, it appeared that the rusting station wagon that had been one of the initial vehicles to arrive on the 1st November had turned south onto the Puerta Princessa Road, as it passed the second camera station a mile from the junction to the coast track Skinpin added that it seemed to have only a single occupant & the three goons at the junction itself showed no sign of packing up.
Puerta
Princessa Road North, Tagburos, Palawan 11.36am 08/11/17
Twenty minutes later the station wagon obliviously trundled past Bancroft's forward position with as reported only a solitary occupant, the driver.
As he drove through the intended ambush position he had no idea that his demise was only a few feet away.
Puerta Princessa Road North, Tagburos, Palawan 5.49pm 08/11/17
With the now waning moon climbing into the sky & there being little chance of anybody departing the coastal retreat Alex called the all clear for night & Bancroft again returned to join them for the night, a watch was still kept on the cameras just in case, fortunately the lack of activity had at least meant the batteries were still good for another couple of days.
Puerta Princessa Road North, Tagburos, Palawan 2.16pm 09/11/17
Finally mumbled Vrasten as Skinpin's voice echoed in his ear, it was happening.
With practiced ease the ambush party tucked themselves into their respective positions; Bancroft 500m north of the main event, T-Bird in his fox hole on the west side of the road just ahead of the derelict buildings & Alex with Boyd on the same side of the road but beyond the garage, alone on the east side of the road Vrasten was dug in roughly opposite Alex & Boyd's position.
Skinpin alone remained with the Inandeng hired pickups hidden from prying eyes.
Puerta Princessa Road North, Tagburos, Palawan 2.18pm 09/11/17
Skinpin confirmed that the convoy, four vehicles, had just passed the one mile camera marker, this was made up of the Junta's limousine with the matching Volga's back & front but with the addition of the guards truck running at the rear.
Over the comm's channel all heard Skinpin telling König to come join the party & suggesting Diaz & Co get their respective backsides in the air.
Puerta Princessa Road North, Tagburos, Palawan 2.33pm 09/11/17
Bancroft's warning over the comm's that the target had just passed the 500m mark echoed the sound of rapidly approaching vehicles.
Puerta Princessa Road North, Tagburos, Palawan 2.34.37pm 09/11/17
At around 40mph the first Volga came into view.
Puerta Princessa Road North, Tagburos, Palawan 2.34.42pm 09/11/17
Five seconds later Alex stabbed at the remote button. Unfortunately her timing was out by a little over one second & the president's Mercedes had already driven over the main charge.
Puerta Princessa Road North, Tagburos, Palawan 2.34.43pm 09/11/17
The roar of the explosion was without doubt truly deafening, the pembunuh anak laki-laki in the Volga immediately behind Balelang's limousine simply ceased to exist as the principle charge exploded directly beneath them.
The
leading Volga almost escaped the line of buried charges, almost but not quite,
the last of the charges caught it just as it ran beyond the intended ambush
point taking out its rear end in its entirety, in a squeal of twisted metal
it slid to a halt.
The following truck faired little better, the first of the charges erupted immediately in front of it causing the truck to bury its nose first into the ensuing crater; there was a meaty thud as the windscreen exploded outwards.
The Mercedes G class extended limousine sawed majestic for an instant as its back end lifted vertically & the vehicle completed a full 360 degree head over heals rotation landing atop the exploded & crater littered surface of the road with a dull thud, for a second its 6.0 lire twin turbo 531 bhp V12 continued to roar as if nothing was amiss before its engine management system realised that its AMG 7G-tronic auto 'box transmission had nothing to transfer power to anymore.
What was left of the derelict buildings collapsed under the intense air pressure that resulted not to mention the barrage of shrapnel that ripped through anything & everything within a 20m radius, it was at that point T-Bird was very glad he'd dug himself a nice deep hole.
Behind the remains of the shattered building shell Skinpin watched the twisted remains of the two old gas pumps obliterate themselves as they crashed into the trees beyond.
For the merest fraction of a second nothing happened, then the screaming started.
Puerta Princessa Road North, Tagburos, Palawan 2.35pm 09/11/17
As Alex recovered her wits sufficient to raise the Scorpion 16 missile launcher to her shoulder Boyd let fly from behind her with both BAL 20mm cannons that his Omega external linear frame allowed him to handle with ease, as Alex looked on the figure crawling from the front passengers side of the disabled lead Volga came apart under Boyd's withering fire power. Ignoring the lead vehicle Alex sent a 105mm callibre high explosive armour piercing round into the side of the presidents ride.
For a second Balelang's limousine rocked onto its offside wheels before crashing back down with a bone jarring shudder, the armoured limousine was designed to give protection against its passengers from significant incoming fire however with the best intentions in the world it simply wasn't able to withstand military spec battlefield munitions such as HEAP shells Alex was throwing at from near point blank range. As the zirconium incendiary tip ignited the HE charge the supposedly impact resistant external skin of the limousine simply peeled apart whilst the tungsten carbide penetrator ripped apart the remaining structure.
In the mean time T-Bird emptied a full clip from his MP2013 SMG at surviving guards clambering from the passenger side of the rearmost truck, unsurprisingly the unarmoured guards they never stood a fucking hope in hell.
Least combat orientated & last to react was Vrasten, from the opposite side of the road he was appalled at the hell they had unleashed, he knew however that he had a job to & was not so distracted to allow the lead Volga's driver to get more than a few tottering steps from the smoldering car before he near cut him in two with a burst from his Ingram.
As Alex dropped the scorpion to the ground Boyd, ignoring the stray gunfire, sprinted for the lead Volga having seen one of Balelang's pembunuh anak laki-laki crawl beneath the lead vehicle, for her own part she threw rifle to shoulder & put a burst of shells into the now exposed interior of the presidents car.
As Alex watched on Boyd simply bent & hooked his hands under the cill of the Volga & with no apparent effort straightened rolling the Volga over onto its side before stepping on the neck of the cowering pembunuh anak laki-laki below.
As T-Bird scrambled to reload his SMG he caught sight of somebody legging it from the far side of the rear truck towards the cover of the trees beyond the road, Vrasten too had spotted the would be escapee & made to head to intercept T-Bird's runaway. Loosing sight of the guard Vrasten still had a good idea of where he'd gone to ground, as T-Bird came crashed through the bushes the panicking guard rose & fired at point blank range, fortunately T-Bird's Skinweave & kevlar saved him from anything more than a scratch. Vrasten wasted no time in emptying the remaining half of the Ingram's clip into T-Bird's would be killer.
Puerta Princessa Road North, Tagburos, Palawan 2.36pm 09/11/17
As near silence returned Bancroft trotted back from his forward position & assisted in checking there were no survivors, Alex meantime took several less than complementary shots of the blood soaked remains of Kuratong Balelang corpse as proof of his demise.
Puerta Princessa Road North, Tagburos, Palawan 2.39pm 09/11/17
Not wishing to hang about the hired pick-ups were quickly uncovered & manoeuvred around the devastation, Skinpin seeing for a change there were no injuries to address made himself useful & confirmed over the radio to both König & Diaz to confirm the kill had been made.
Inandeng Quarry, San Vicente, Palawan 3.03pm 09/11/17
Roughly half way back to the quarry they met König coming the other way in the Humvee confirming that nobody had since followed from the beach retreat, spinning the Hummer around König lead the way back to the quarry where one of the pickups was unloaded & abandoned with a hasty note of thanks for its hire was left on the seat. With all kit transferred to the remaining pick-up & the Humvee they headed for the airstrip.
Inandeng Community Airstrip, San Vicente, Palawan 4.28pm 09/11/17
Coming into view of the airstrip all could see the Spartan was already on the ground, engines still running & rear tailgate open & down awaiting the return of Hummer, a grinning Jesus Perez welcomed them aboard.
With all the kit loaded Varnik & Gigi put the C-27 in to the air leaving the solitary second pickup on the grass runway as the only evidence of their presence at the airstrip.
