Guns for Hire - Script Five

The Heights, Pacifica foothills 5.48pm 02/03/2015

Having watched Joshua enter the embassy Vrasten immediately sent a text to Mariusz confirming that the chicken was in the coup, Mariusz responded by e-mailing back a photograph of the prime fillet steaks that he & Gonzales had just been served, Vrasten's response was none to complementary.

Continuing to watch, Vrasten & Skinpin were surprised when an hour or so later the ambassador emerged with his PA only to drive off towards Pacifica in a red city registered smart car, Vrasten again contacted Mariusz & e-mailed a couple photographs of Joshua & the vehicle in which he is being driven, sighing, Mariusz pushed his plate away & with a disgruntled glance at the unfinished food joined Gonzales who was already heading for the door, in thier hurry to leave however both forget to pay the tab but after being gently reminded of their error by the two large gentlemen at the door the matter was settled quiet amicably.

Waiting for confirmation from Mariusz that they'd pick up Joshua's trail, it hit Vrasten squarely between the eyes.

Bastard, they already knew from the scandal sheets that Joshua spent a great deal of time enjoying Pacifica's night life, so
wasn't it likely that he had a crash pad somewhere in Pacifica itself, the embassy was his official address but he must have some where in the city for his own private use, cursing, Vrasten again called Mariusz with his revelation whilst Skinpin cleared the camp, following the call they headed down towards the coast road to await the others.

Heading across the city towards the coast road both Mariusz & Gonzales scoped the inbound traffic for Joshua, suddenly Gonzales gestured towards one of the many city runabouts turning at the lights ahead, spinning the hire car around Gonzales settled in someway behind Joshua's vehicle.

Some twenty minutes later Joshua's lift pulled onto the forecourt of one of the better Pacifica hotels, the Mariott, as Mariusz & Gonzales watched Joshua stepped from the vehicle & after a brief discussion with his PA he drove away leaving Joshua to enter the hotel alone.

Cruising the block, having changed the saloons colour, both were pretty convinced that Joshua wouldn't be coming back out for a while so whilst Mariusz spent the next half hour or so jay walking the main street & the service ways behind the hotel itself, Gonzales headed off to collect Vrasten & Skinpin.

Off the main street, Mariusz found the pavements aren't so clean as the Mariott would like em' but despite the ample CCTV units there are plenty of cockroaches selling their wares beyond the hotels security gates.

Cooling his heels outside a nearby wine bar, Amaryllis's, Mariusz could see that there was plenty of bling on show as well as considerable flesh, not all of it female.

Back on the hill Vrasten & Skinpin wound their way down towards the pick up point to await Gonzales's arrival, on route however the peace & quiet was disturbed as a helicopter dropped over the hill & headed towards them, startled they could only watch as it passed them by, circled the embassy & then settled on the roof level helipad, when nothing else happend they assumed its return flight was nothing to do with their hill top surveillance.

An hour or so later, having called back past Denny's to collect a fresh change of clothes, Vrasten joined Mariusz for drinks at a table back outside the pavement bar, looking for the others Vrasten gestured towards the multi-storey carpark further down the strip,

"Waiting for us to decide what the fuck were gonna do next" muttered Vrasten

Several drinks later they were still pretty undecided whether to try & enter the hotel or not, both were conscious that their clothing didn't really fit the likely clientele of the Mariott & that their wallets were a tad on the light side if good faith wasn't enough to serve them, Mariusz was also decidedly uncomfortable as he repeatedly pulled his trench coat over his barely concealed SK19G.

Finally Vrasten was persuaded that a bit of petty larceny was required to ease thier financial situation.

Leading Vrasten into the back allies behind the plush frontages of the hotels, wine bars & restaurants along the strip Mariusz lead Vrasten into a narrow side passage which he'd noted earlier was deep in shadow as well as being free from CCTV intrusion, particularly at its opening onto the strip itself.

Stood in the shadows Vrasten considered his situation, feeling uncomfortable with what was now proposed he half considered leaving Mariusz to it, this was one hell of a long way down from bustin' his ass on the streets of Night City. Before he could retreat from the situation Mariusz turned back from the ally entrance & nodded, acting on instinct Vrasten joined Mariusz & quickly the passer-by was hustled into the darkness.

Clumsily they fumbled to subdue their target, but as his shrieks grew louder Vrasten silences him - permanently.

Sickened at what he has perpetrated, Vrasten could only look on as Mariusz deftly sifted through the mans wallet, after what seems like an eternity Mariusz dragged the corpse further into the ally & dumped the lifeless body into a convenient dumpster. Minutes later, tagging onto the back of a passing group of revellers the two returned to their pavement table, texted Skinpin & Gonzales to join them & ordered another round of drinks.

As Skinpin & Gonzales joined them Mariusz palmed a roll of dollar bills, to raised eyebrows from Gonzales, across the table & muttered,

"Met a man named Fábio Assunção, a fashion designer it says on his business card, looked more like a fag to me, anyway he didn't need his wallet any longer, which is pretty good really cos' its got over $4K in it as well as a string of credit cards as long as your arm, shame about his watch though, its a piggin' fake - so who's for a beer then ?"

Preoccupied, Vrasten folded his blood spattered coat over the MAC, shook his head & asked,

"So what's next ?"

The Strip, Amaryllis's, Pacifica Central 11.47pm 02/03/2015

As midnight approached the four nursde their drinks & gradually relaxed as the restaurants, bars & clubs along the strip gradually filled & spilt over into the street, to the amazement of the others Skinpin turned on the charm & soon the four found themselves flirting with a couple of girls at the adjacent table, all was going well until Mariusz's jacket flapped open & one of the girls inadvertently eyeballed his pistol, despite his quick words the piece obviously put a damper on the conversation & making their excuses the eye candy moved on..

The Strip, Mariott Hotel, Pacifica Central 1.42am 03/03/2015

Leaving Mariusz & Gonzales nursing a couple of beers Vrasten & Skinpin tidied themselves up & casually walked across the plaza, through the revolving doors & into the affluent foyer of the Mariott Hotel with out so much as a glance from the suited gorilla's on the door, glancing around they ignored the lifts & reception, left & ahead respectively, & turned right towards the lushly fitted glass fronted bar.

Making idle conversation they sauntered across the lounge & ordered a couple of drinks from the ever so cute skirt behind the bar, as she poured their drinks she asked for their room number & shook her head as Skinpin proffered dollar bills,

"Sorry sir, but after 1.30 I can only debit sales against a room card"

Whilst Skinpin apologised & chatted with Lila, Vrasten cast his eye around the bar & nearly choked as he spotted Joshua sat with a
couple olive skinned, dark haired, but obviously expensive, hookers at a secluded table off to one side, turning back to
Skinpin he accepted the proffered drink, smiled & added,

"On the house, nice ass don't you think"

With only a few other hotel patrons in the bar, Mariusz & Gonzales secreted themselves well away from Joshua & his friends & waited.

After thirty minutes or so Vrasten nods to Skinpin,

"Movement"

Joshua & company ambled into the foyer, Skinpin & Vrasten, feigning casualness, stood, wished Lila pleasant dreams & followed, unsure what would come next, both went through the pretence of a last minute discussion as to whether to venture out or retire for the night, but as the lift doors opened & Joshua stepped in they hurriedly turned & followed hoping the Bell Hop didn't ask to many questions.

Fortunately Joshua was obviously in a good mood & announced his floor before the Bell Boy could speak, when he turned to Vrasten & Skinpin Vrasten smiled & murmured sixteen, hoping Joshua didn't pay them to much attention. As the lift slowly rose the Bell boy, bored & a little nervous, made mention of a murder earlier that evening along the strip, ignored by Joshua & his friends Vrasten & Skinpin tut tutted such atrocities & tipped the kid well as the doors opened at Joshua's floor.

Hanging back until Joshua turned at the end of the corridor they silently moved forward & peered around the corner, nothing, confused by Joshua's absence, they slipped forward only to realise that there were only two doors along the passage, one, at the corridors end, with a key card lock & a second, unadorned but locked, on the left, checking out the key card zipper it bore the room number 1627.

Moving back to the lift they realised that to again use to lift so soon to go down would alert the Bell Hop that something wasn't quite right however trying the stairwell door it opened freely & they descend to level 3.

Grinning at their good fortune, they quickly head down into the lobby & through the revolving door out into the cool night air.
