The Ulysses is a medium-sized cruiser, and the first of the CA series of cruisers to really come up to spec. It has good drive capabilites and an excellect sensor and commo suite. It relies more on its armour than screening for its defence, and battle testing has proven this to be a mistake. An optimised nuclear damper provides only factor-1 defence; sandcaster turrets are at a premium. There are no repulsors. The ship is therefore undefended against meson attacks and only poorly defended against beams and missiles. Also much crticised is the complete lack of a meson offensive armament.
