Island in the Vadornisti Isles, culture collapsed after overthrow of black sorcerer
After Dormar, Vermar is the nearest of the major islands to submergence. Its' national culture disintegrated about a hundred years ago, after a 40-year reign by a notorious black sorcerer named Ethandar, and the single remaining major city, Linhowe, is now in ruins. The remaining population have fallen back into barbarism, and slaughter each other over the basic needs of life.
Persistent rumours link the peculiar monoliths at the north end of the island with some powerful, lost Khylar magic, but anyone going to investigate is liable to be hacked to bits on landing. The monoliths will be submerged in another few years, after which the mystery will be irrelevant anyway.
