The Fionath had based their strength among the other lizard clans of the Trakar on the use of the Chairs of Sight and Hearing, and the healing abilities of the Deathbreaker, by the shamen of the tribe. All this came to an end with the arrival of Gorfang, Lynien, Meabh and Eloy, the destruction of the Deathbreaker and the death of Yassukhir, the last shaman.
The chieftain Berretlan led his surviving tribe through these disasters, and remained in charge as the Fionath attempted to rebuild their lives without their former advantages.
