His mother died in childbirth (not unusual with half-orcs) and he has no family ties. He is a fanatical devotee of the Amber Hypothesis (qv), being one of the rare extremists who believe that all other planes - not just other Material planes - are shadows cast by Prime Zero, and that places like the Abyss and Three Paradises are created as reflections of conditions on the Prime Material. He's a crank on this but otherwise steady and competent.
