Mistakenly believing the Wyrmslayers captured by Vane the Mace, he got captured & imprisoned in Reital Castle. He escaped when Skufruss tried to blast his way out of the castle. After the fall of Vane, he was appointed to the post of Councillor of Information on the Suryan Council, and given the task of running the intelligence services, as well as rooting out remaining Vane loyalists.
The treachery of his sister in 1621 was a serious blow to Delgarde, but he remained Surya's main spymaster, and as of 1655 remained in service to his son, old but hale at 76.
