Common tongue of the north of Alair

Derived from the original language spoken by the earliest human settlers who crossed into Alair from the north-east, Norton is a fairly simple, everyday sort of language and easy to pick up and use.
After the Invasion, the official language of the North was Krultac, and anyone wishing to be successful in Varkar's empire had better use it. The bulk of the common people, however, still used their original Norton tongue. Even if they knew it, however, no lizardman would respond to it, and it was regarded as the "slaves' speech".
In lands where the Kin rulers were overthrown after the Slaying, a concious effort was made to restore Norton as the language of choice, and its use increased steadily from that point.
