Kalron was one of the Erlyid’s youngest ever generals, and was very successful in the on/off war with the elves waged by the Erlyid at that time. Seconded to the diplomatic service, he managed almost single-handedly to broker a peace with the elves and an end to the wars. As a result of this he became very popular, and, building on this popularity, declared himself first Emperor of the Erlyid in 1 (at which point the modern calendar was instituted)
