8/15/10,121 - Kest I-Monds Tower

By morning a decision is made, unsure why Kest-I-Mond is dead, but convinced it ties with their task to deliver the flask & their harassment by sky city personnel since leaving that fateful evening in the Vulgar Unicorn, they decide to leave this place as quickly as is possible.

The orc's now convinced that they are not going to die are keen to be away before their current captors change their mind, after all they've killed the shaman who lived here so they must be either pretty dam good or as lucky as Hell. The dwarf, however does his best to ingrate himself to the four friends & is more than happy to tag along, after all he thinks, a lone dwarf in unfamiliar territory has the life expectancy of dead rat. Convinced that the orc's will do them no harm, they are herded out of the courtyard & with several days rations, the orc's still not really believing their luck, run like buggery until out of bow shot.

Tharla decides to have a quick look up on the roof just in case they've missed anything of interest, however apart from the odd dead pigeon the view is pretty disappointing. Returning back to the others Molin is adamant they must have missed something as he still the third key taken from Kest-I-Mond's neck. Kilite sighs & starts untying packs that he has just been securing to the wagon commenting that couldn't Molin have remembered this earlier.

Starting in Kest-I-Mond's private quarters they systematically work their way down to ground level, apart from the occasional coin the day is frustratingly fruitless.

Agreeing to Molin's urgings, they agree to continue their search on the morrow, next day the four are woken by an out of tune whistling dwarf & the smell of frying bacon, Brasso, as the dwarf has introduced himself, jokes that whilst he's not the worlds best, alleged, thief, he does make a dam fine fry up. After the second sitting, whilst the friends can't comment on the former they are prone to agree with the latter.

Eventually rising from the table they recommence their search, firstly within the courtyard & then onto the chambers below.

Several hours later the Molin, Illyra, Kilite & Brasso, Tharla watching from above via the mirror of farseeing, stand in front of a panel of rock in the main subterranean chamber that looks exactly like all the other rock around it, peering close Brasso points out & traces the faintest of lines in the rock before them as well as the crack which conceals a key hole.

Molin takes the key & places it in the lock, turning to speak to the others he sees them retreating across the cave, sheepishly they grin & remind him of the last door he opened. Reminded of his record with doors he half duck's as he twiddles the key & realises it will turn both ways, closes his eyes & turns it clockwise as far as it will go. Immediately there is a rushing noise, dust stirs at his feet & is sucked into the room through the door which now stands ajar.

Pushing the door inward, but yet to step into the room, a pale green light fills the room emanating from suspended glass globes around the room. Unlike the cavern, the walls, five in number, & ceiling of this room have been cut & timber panelled, in the middle of the room is an open coffin.

Edging up to the coffins side it contains a young girl, maybe thirteen or so, in a long plain white smock, she is clutching a rag doll to her breast & looks peaceful. With one eye on the coffin they search the room but find no clues to her identity, remembering that Tharla has not been in here & that she can only view where she has been before, Kilite declares that he will to the surface to tell Tharla what they have discovered & leaves the others tapping on panels looking for hidden compartments.

Up top Kilite & Tharla sit watching for the mirror for the others to return, however as they sit noise can be heard from outside the tower, bursting into the courtyard, Gunter is bellowing at the sky, an arrow protruding from his shoulder, several more broken arrow shafts lie in the dirt. Looking skyward nothing can be seen so while Kilite tries, unsuccessfully, to calm the distrought Gunter & watch the sky, Tharla runs below to deliver the bad news.
