Spot-on

As the name implies these models are pretty much "spot-on", I've got a couple, Landrovers naturally, & they look the part, if I was ever to consider buying other than Landrovers then I think this is where my attention would wander.

These models first appeared in 1959 as Tri-ang toys attempted to get a foot in the door of the die-cast world dominated by Dinky & the new kid on the block, Corgi. To compete they had to be a step above the compertition & hence the "Spot-on" monicker was adopted as the scale used, 1 : 42, was the same across the range.

The models were all produced in a purpose built factory in Belfast & production stopped only after Tri-ang bought Dinky in 1967 although some of the dies were purchased & continued to be manufactured for a couple of years in New Zealand.
