Mebetoys
MEBETOYS was formed in 1966 in Milan by Mario Besana , producing many models first in 1:43 and later in 1:25. Besana sold the company in the early 1070's to the American toy company Mattel who continued production in Italy until 1984 when all production was shifted to Mattel's manufacturing base's elsewhere.
In 1974 Besana, not wishing to relinquish his involvement with the Italian toy market, formed a new company, Martoys, an instant success it soon changed its label to BBurago, see elsewhere.
I've got a couple of Mebetoy Landrovers & I have to say I think there pretty damm good, the A series reminding me a bit of the Spot-on castings, however my favourite is the open topped on safari model complete with movie camera & rifles.
