Benbros
To be perfectly honest it has to be said that the guy that made these had his eyes shut at the time after a heavy night on the beer, their very basic, boxy & lack pretty much any kind of detail other than they've got wheels. I have to say however that there's something about them that appeals & I wouldn't be without them in the collection.
"Benson Bros." was started in the late 1940's making diecast toys & lead figures, in 1951 they became "Benbros", in the 1950's they expanded their range when they aquired the dies for various "Timpo Toys", in 1954 their was the TV range, box's looked like a television set, in the early 60's they brought out the Zebra series which were better detailed & expanded their range but alas it was all a bit to late by 1965 they were no more, having been taken over by others.
As I said anyway, sod the quality, I like them so bugger what anybody else thinks.
